Peach County Baseball season comes to a close with a 6-1 loss in Game 2 of the Sweet 16

Peach County Baseball could never get things going in Game 2 of the Sweet 16 against Harlem High School.

The Trojans starter Jackson Peavy could never find his groove on the mound.  He pitched 3.1 innings, getting out of jams in the first and second innings, yielding just one run.  The third inning of labor proved to be too much, and the lefthander was relieved by freshman Jaden Jones, who worked the final two outs without surrendering a baserunner.  He was relieved by Bryce Harrelson, who threw the final three frames, giving up three hits and two runs (1 earned), striking out 3 and walking two.

Wyatt Blanton and Rigsby Booth had the only two hits for the Trojans.

"That's a very good team we just played today.  They are a senior group; you can see why they are 68-2 over the past two seasons.  We did not play our best baseball today, and if we had, the games would have been much more competitive.  This is the kind of experience a young team needs... to be able to go into a hostile environment against the top team and learn what playing at this level is all about.  I hope our guys were paying attention and actually process what it will take to get to where we want to be with this program," said Coach Hiller on his team's performance.

"We have had a great season.  I know the guys are exhausted.  They have put in so much hard work.  I hope they will reflect on this season and remember that this is where it all started.  I can't wait to face the challenges next year will bring, and I know our experiences this year will allow our players to embrace the challenges and adversity that will come our way."
