Trojans repeat Back-to-Back No Hitter Performance

"No-Hitters are special.  Back-to-back no-hitters are very rare.  Four consecutive no-hitters is just unheard of," said Coach Joey Hiller about his team's start to the 2024 season.  "It's a great way to get things started.  We have lots to continue to work on and areas that need much improvement, but we are excited about the direction and potential of this team." 

In game one, Jackson Peavy struck out 15 batters as the lefty led Peach County past Taylor County 6-0 on Saturday. Peavy gave up zero hits and zero runs over six innings while walking two.

The Trojans won thanks in part to four runs in the fifth inning. DJ Hudson singled, scoring one run, Nick Hardee doubled, scoring one run, and Peavy grounded out, scoring two runs.

Peach County opened the scoring in the first after Bryce Harrelson grounded out, scoring one run.

Brendan Brooks stepped on the bump first for the Vikings. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out nine and walking two. Hunter Moye threw one inning of scoreless ball for Peach County in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

Hardee led Peach County with two hits in two at-bats. Peavy, Hardee, and Hudson each drove in one run for the Trojans. Zion Hudson stole two bases.

 

In the nightcap, the Peach County Trojans easily dispatched Spalding on Saturday, 9-2.

Peach County got on the board in the first inning after Nick Hardee hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.

The Trojans added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after DJ Hudson singled, and Bryce Harrelson stole home, each scoring one run.

Hudson earned the win for Peach County. The righty surrendered zero hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Ben McDaniel took the loss for Spalding. He went five innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out six and walking two. Aden New threw one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Peach County in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking three.  He was relieved by Bryce Harrelson, who recorded the game's final two outs, both by strikeout.

Harrelson and Hudson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits and two RBI for the Trojans. Harrelson, DJ Hudson, and Zion Hudson each stole multiple bases for Peach County. The Trojans stole 13 bases in the game.

Peach County Varsity Trojans welcome Hardaway on Tuesday for their next game.
