Torin Helms's Big Day Propels Peach County Trojans Past Academy for Classical Education Varsity Gryphons

Torin Helms collected three hits in three at bats, as Peach County Trojans defeated Academy for Classical Education Varsity Gryphons 11-1 on Wednesday. Helms doubled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
Jackson Peavy struck out 11 batters on the day. The left-handed pitcher also gave up zero hits and one run over five innings while walking two.
Peach County Trojans opened the scoring in the first after Helms doubled, scoring one run.
Peach County Trojans scored nine runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. DJ Hudson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Scout Willingham was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Helms singled, scoring one run, Rigsby Booth drew a walk, scoring one run, Wyatt Blanton doubled, scoring three runs, and Xavion Childs grounded out, scoring two runs.
William Makowski took the loss for Academy for Classical Education Varsity Gryphons. The righty went two innings, giving up 10 runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking three.
Peach County Trojans piled up nine hits in the game. Blanton and Helms each drove in three runs for Peach County Trojans. Owen Meredith collected two hits for Peach County Trojans in two at bats. Meredith stole two bases. Peach County Trojans worked the count all day, amassing seven walks. Peach County Trojans ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game.
