Peach County Baseball tops Perry for the first time since 2016
Scout Willingham Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Peach County Trojans Take The Win Over Perry Varsity Panthers

Scout Willingham collected three hits in four at bats, as Peach County Trojans defeated Perry Varsity Panthers 9-8 on Wednesday. Willingham hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the first inning.
Despite falling down by five runs in the fifth inning, Perry Varsity Panthers tried to fight back. Perry Varsity Panthers closed the gap by scoring on a single, a sacrifice fly, a single, and a single.
A single by Janoris Reeves put Perry Varsity Panthers on the board in the top of the first.
Peach County Trojans captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first after DJ Hudson hit a sacrifice fly, Nick Hardee grounded out, and Wyatt Blanton singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Perry Varsity Panthers captured the lead, 4-3, in the top of the second after Nathan Sullivan walked, Jackson Thompson hit a sacrifice fly, and , each scoring one run.
A single by Willingham gave Peach County Trojans the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the second.
A single by Xavion Childs extended the Peach County Trojans lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the third inning.
Peach County Trojans added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on one hit. Hudson grounded out, scoring one run, and Willingham hit a solo home run to center field.
Hudson earned the win for Peach County Trojans. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking four. Walker Bland took the loss for Perry Varsity Panthers. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out none and walking three. Owen Meredith collected the save. Kade Thompson appeared in relief for Peach County Trojans.
Peach County Trojans had patience at the plate, collecting 11 walks for the game. Rigsby Booth and Torin Helms led the team with three bases on balls each. Blanton, Booth, Zion Hudson, and Helms each stole multiple bases for Peach County Trojans. Peach County Trojans stole 21 bases in the game.
Perry Varsity Panthers amassed nine hits in the game. Brroks Stella, Kameron Vandersee, and Reeves each collected two hits for Perry Varsity Panthers. Sullivan led Perry Varsity Panthers with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Vandersee paced Perry Varsity Panthers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Vandersee stole two bases. Perry Varsity Panthers stole four bases in the game.
Peach County Trojans welcome Dougherty Varsity Trojans on Friday for their next game for Senior Night at 5:30.
