Peach County Baseball drops Region 2-AAA opener to Pike County 4-1
Peach County Baseball competed well on Tuesday night against the defending AAA State Champion. One inning proved to be the difference in the game.
Trevor Bagwell was the winning pitcher for Pike County Pirates. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine. Jake Carden threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Carden recorded the last four outs to earn the save for the Pirates.
Jackson Peavy took the loss for Peach County. The lefthander surrendered four runs on just two hits over four innings, striking out three, facing the minimum through the first three innings.
Wheeler Greene and Bryce Harrelson each managed one hit to lead the Trojans. Peach County was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Torin Helms made the most plays with five, including an inning-changing diving play on a line drive to RF.
Both teams faced the minimum number of hitters through three complete innings. Pike County managed four runs in the bottom of the fourth on two extra-base hits, two walks, a hit batter, two balks, and a sacrifice fly.
Peach County capitalized in the top of the 6th with two outs, managing back-to-back walks to Bryce Harrelson and DJ Hudson. Wheeler Greene came through with a hard line drive single to RF to score Harrelson.
On Friday, the Trojans face Pike County again in a 5:00 DH at home. Come out and support your Trojans.
