Peach Baseball takes the series against Upson-Lee
GAME ONE RECAP (Won 12-1)
Kenyon Walker and Zion Hudson each collected four hits in five at-bats, as Peach County defeated Upson-Lee 12-1 on Friday.
The Trojans scored in the top of the first inning after Zion Hudson singled and Walker doubled, each scoring one run.
Peach County added one run in the second after DJ Hudson doubled on an 0-2 count.
The Trojans scored six runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Nick Hardee hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run; Zion Hudson doubled, scoring one run; Walker singled, scoring one run; Zachary Veillon singled, scoring one run; and Xavion Childs doubled, scoring two runs.
Aden New earned the win for Peach County.
The southpaw gave up two hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking four. Jayden Wise took the loss for Upson-Lee.
Peach County Trojans amassed 17 hits in the game.
DJ Hudson, Hardee, and Veillon each collected multiple hits for Peach County Trojans.
GAME TWO RECAP (Lost 8-7 in 9 innings)
A walk-off left Peach County on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Upson-Lee Varsity on Friday. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the ninth when Drake Dyer singled, scoring one run.
The Knights rallied for the victory despite trailing 6-1 in the second.
The Trojans opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Peach County first got on the board when Nick Hardee singled, scoring one run.
Peach County added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Bryce Harrelson singled, a pitch struck Hardee, Zion Hudson hit a sacrifice fly, and Kenyon Walker singled, each scoring one run.
Upson-Lee took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Colby Hemphill hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs, to give the Knights a 7-6 lead.
Peach County scored on a passed ball, which helped Peach County Trojans tie the game at seven in the top of the sixth.
Campbell Hinson earned the win for the Upson-Lee Knights. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out none and walking two. Harrelson took the loss for Peach County. The righty went five and one-third innings, giving up one run on six hits, striking out eight and walking one. DJ Hudson started on the mound for Peach County. He surrendered six hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out one and walking four. Trey Webb led things off on the bump for Upson-Lee. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and seven runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one.
Peach County collected nine hits in the game. Harrelson, Walker, and Wyatt Blanton each collected two hits for the Trojans. Walker and Hardee each drove in two runs. Xavion Childs stole two bases.
Peach County Trojans will travel to Mary Persons next Wednesday to start their final Region 2-AAA series of the season.
