Peach Baseball takes first L of the season

"It was a competitive game.  Jackson Peavy went out there and threw well enough to win for four innings, striking out 11 and allowing only 3 hits.  At the end of the day, when it's time to make plays, we need to make plays.  And when it's time to move runners, we need to do a better job.  We had our opportunities, but we left 10 guys on base.  It was good to play a quality team like Perry and face a good pitcher like Langdon.  We identified many things we need to improve on, and we fully intend to get back to work," said Coach Hiller on his team's Wednesday night performance.  "I am proud of our JV guys for their 12-9 win."

The Peach County Trojans fell 6-2 to the Perry Panthers on Wednesday despite out-hitting them four to three.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the first after a wild pitch scored one run.

Perry flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on one hit to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Carson Shaw on an 0-2 count that drove in two.

Connor Langdon earned the win for Perry. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out 11 and walking five. Jackson Peavy took the loss for the Peach County Trojans. The left-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up five runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out 11 and walking four.

Thomas Gregory went 1-for-2 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with one run batted in. DJ Hudson led Peach County with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.

Shaw drove the middle of the lineup, leading Perry with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-4 on the day. Shaw, Kameron Vandersee, and Jackson Thompson collected one hit for Perry. Vandersee paced the Panthers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Perry turned one double play in the game and didn't commit a single error in the field.

Peach County plays at home on Saturday against Academy for Classical Education Gryphons in their next game at 6:00.
