Peach County takes Game 1 against Region 1-AAA Cairo 9-5

Zion Hudson A Difficult Out As Peach County Trojans Defeat Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers

Zion Hudson collected three hits in three at-bats, as Peach County Trojans defeated Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers 9-5 on Tuesday. Hudson doubled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Peach County Trojans got on the board in the first inning after Scout Willingham doubled, scoring two runs.

Caden Allen tripled to right field, which helped Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers tie the game at two in the top of the second.

Peach County Trojans took the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second thanks to singles by Hudson and Nick Hardee.

Jackson Peavy earned the win for the Peach County Trojans. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out nine and walking six. Cannon Maige took the loss for Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers. The reliever went three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out two, and walking four. Eli Cooper led things off on the mound for Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers. The righty surrendered four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. DJ Hudson threw two and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for the Peach County Trojans in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out five, and walking none.

Willingham provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Peach County Trojans with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Xavion Childs paced Peach County Trojans with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Childs and Hudson each stole multiple bases for the Peach County Trojans. Peach County Trojans ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.

Allen led Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Maige led Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers with two hits in four at bats. Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Cayden Prince, Davie Touchton, and Jaxon Cox led the team with two free passes each. Cairo Varsity Syrupmakers turned one double play in the game.
