Big First Inning Leads Peach County Trojans Past Luella

Peach County Trojans defeated Luella 17-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to 11 runs in the first inning. DJ Hudson tripled, scoring one run; Nick Hardee drew a walk, scoring one run; Torin Helms singled, scoring two runs; an error scored four runs; Zion Hudson doubled, scoring one run; Hardee grounded out, scoring one run; and a passed ball scored one run.

Luella opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two walks. When Lemon drew a walk, Luella first got on the board, scoring one run.

Peach County Trojans scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the second inning. Hudson drew a walk, scoring one run, Hardee singled, scoring three runs, and Helms doubled, scoring two runs.

Owen Meredith earned the win for Peach County Trojans. The righty allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Evan Rush stepped on the bump first for Peach County Trojans. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and two runs over one inning, striking out three and walking three. Gamble began the game for Luella. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and 11 runs (seven earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking five. In relief, Jaden Jones pitched one inning of shutout ball for Peach County Trojans. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking one.

Peach County Trojans tallied 11 hits in the game. Wyatt Blanton, Miller Greene, and Helms each collected two hits for Peach County Trojans. Helms went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Peach County Trojans had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Xavion Childs and Hudson led the team with two bases on balls each. Hudson stole three bases. Peach County Trojans stole four bases in the game. Peach County Trojans didn't commit a single error in the field. Rigsby Booth had the most chances in the field with five.

Croll and Gamble were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Luella. Dennis and Lemon were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Luella.
