Trojans drop a heartbreaker in 10 innings to rival Perry High School
Tuesday's game against Perry was a heartbreaker for Peach County, as they lost the lead late in an 8-5 defeat. The game was tied at five with Perry batting in the top of the tenth when Brady Bearden doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.
Bryce Harrelson started the game for the Trojans. The righthander went five and a third innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out ten. Cooper Edwards started the game for Perry. Their ace went five and a third innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 13.
Perry scored in the third inning when Peyton Davis singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Trojans evened things up at five in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring four runs. Torin Helms doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. Cameron Griggs and Helms led the offensive onslaught by the Trojans, all driving in runs in the frame.
Miles Jones earned the win for Perry. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out six.
Jackson Peavy took the loss for Peach County. Peavy surrendered four runs on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out nine.
DJ Hudson led Peach County with two hits in four at bats.
Perry tallied seven hits in the game. Bearden and Kam Vandersee all managed multiple hits for Perry.
Trojan pitchers combined for 20 strikeouts in the game.
Peach County is scheduled to play Fitzgerald on Friday at 6:30 and Holy Innocents on Saturday at 4:00.
