Peach County Baseball earns its 27th victory of the season with a 17-9 win over Veterans

Peach County Trojans Surge Past Veterans Varsity Warhawks Thanks To Big First Inning

Peach County Trojans defeated Veterans Varsity Warhawks 17-9 on Tuesday thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning. Rigsby Booth singled, scoring one run, Nick Hardee singled, scoring one run, Owen Meredith drew a walk, scoring one run, Xavion Childs was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Zion Hudson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, DJ Hudson drew a walk, scoring one run, Scout Willingham singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on a balk.

Veterans Varsity Warhawks got on the board in the top of the first inning after Peach County Trojans committed an error, and Brooks Masters hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Peach County Trojans added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Hudson doubled, scoring two runs, and Willingham hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Peach County Trojans scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Zach Veillon singled, scoring one run, Childs singled, scoring one run, Hudson doubled, scoring two runs, and Hardee drew a walk, scoring one run.

Hudson earned the win for Peach County Trojans. The starter gave up six hits and six runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Masters took the loss for Veterans Varsity Warhawks. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, allowing eight runs on three hits, striking out one and walking two. Kade Thompson collected the save. Avery Horne also appeared in relief for Peach County Trojans.

Peach County Trojans tallied 12 hits in the game. Thompson led Peach County Trojans with three hits in five at bats. Hudson, Willingham, and DJ Hudson each drove in three runs for Peach County Trojans. Childs collected two hits for Peach County Trojans in three at bats. Meredith paced Peach County Trojans with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Thompson stole two bases. Peach County Trojans ran wild on the base paths, amassing nine stolen bases for the game. Peach County Trojans turned one double play in the game.

Veterans Varsity Warhawks accumulated nine hits in the game. Jackson Eaton provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Veterans Varsity Warhawks with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Eaton and Brandon Mercer each collected two hits for Veterans Varsity Warhawks.

Peach County Trojans will travel to Perry Varsity Panthers for their next game on Wednesday at 7:00.
