Peach Baseball defeats Veterans 3-2

After a disappointing finale to the ACE Charter game, with the Trojans losing 3-2 in the seventh inning, Peach County held on to win against Veterans High School by the same score the very next day.

The Trojans, who have been struggling to close one-run games this season, got a fantastic effort in the 7th inning from late-season JV call-up Evan Rush.  The freshman right-hander got the first two outs of the inning before surrendering back-to-back singles, setting the stage for a 1st and 3rd situation with two outs.  Rush picked off the runner at 1B using a 3rd to 1st pickoff move.  The runner from third broke for the plate, but Rush threw to Bryce Harrelson at 2B, who tagged the runner before the runner at 3B could cross home plate.

"It was a great night for our team and a much-needed late-game victory.  I am proud of the way our guys battled.  We needed to win that game.  Evan did a great job tonight, coming in, competing, and executing pitches and defensive calls.  Peavy was fantastic, as usual, and deserved to win that game tonight," said Coach Hiller.

Jackson Peavy threw six innings tonight for the Trojans.  The junior left-hander scattered three hits and struck out an eye-popping 14 batters in a dominant effort.

The Trojans scored two in the 3rd and one in the 4th.  DJ Hudson and Wyatt Blanton were both 1/2 at the plate.  Torin Helms was 1/3.  Helms and Hudson both had RBI tonight.

Peach County will conclude its regular season on Thursday, April 18th, at home for Senior Night at 6:30 against Mount de Sales.
