The Trojan Pitching Staff Earns POTW Honors
The Peach County Baseball team lost two of three to Pike County to open the very difficult Region 2-AAA schedule this week, but the program made history in Game 2, with their first win in program history over the Pirates, a dominant 12-2 effort. The Trojan pitchers who threw this week did an amazing job of keeping the Pike County hitters off balance. Jackson Peavy, Aden New, DJ Hudson, and Bryce Harrelson all earned Player of the Week honors.
"I am so proud of the program's first win over Pike County. While I don't celebrate "moral victories", two 1-0 losses show we're very competitive, fighting, and improving. Compare it to last years's 4-1 loss, 17-2 loss, and 10-0 loss… And Pike had 10 seniors playing this year…. We started 4 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 2 juniors, and two seniors. The future looks so bright. We just need to stay the course and trust the process. We're growing and continuing to learn how to work diligently at this game daily and compete."
"I can't say enough about how well our pitchers have developed under Coach Trent Franzago. That group has really carried us this year; they give us a chance to win every time we step on the field. We just need to keep working to improve the rest of our game. I am seeing signs of good progress. I think when everyone 'gets it,' we will have a chance to be really good."
