Peach County Baseball gets first ever win at Lakepoint
The Peach County Trojans were triumphant over Lanier High School tonight by a score of 6-1 on Friday. The Peach County Trojans jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Patrick Goodheart induced Owen Meredith to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and an error scored two runs.
Peach County Trojans extended their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Kade Thompson and Meredith.
DJ Hudson earned the win for Peach County Trojans. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Goodheart took the loss for Lanier Varsity Longhorns. The hurler went four innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking two. Miller Greene tossed two innings of no-run ball for Peach County Trojans in relief. The southpaw gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Meredith, the number eight hitter for Peach County Trojans, led the way with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-2 on the day. Meredith, Zion Hudson, Thompson, Nick Hardee, and Rigsby Booth each collecied one hit for Peach County Trojans.
The Trojans square off against Campbell (10am) and Cambridge (12:30pm) at Lakepoint on Day 2 of the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament.
