Peach County Softball's Shaniyah Gibson's awesome performance leads the Lady Trojans past Spalding 9-1

Shaniyah Gibson was dominant in the circle, as the starter rang up ten strikeouts in the Peach County Lady Trojans's 9-1 victory over Spalding on Monday. Gibson gave up one hit and one run over six innings while walking four.

In the win, Gibson collected three hits in four at-bats - a home run to center field in the sixth inning, a single in the first inning, and a line drive single in the sixth inning off the RCF wall.

Spalding got on the board in the fifth inning after Alondra Galindo Diaz drew a walk, scoring one unearned run.

The Lady Trojans flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring nine runs on seven hits to take the lead, 9-1. The most significant blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.

Addison Risper took the loss for Spalding. The hurler went five innings, surrendering two runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one.

Peach County amassed 11 hits in the game, and Taleyah Marable stole two bases.

"It was a great win for the girls tonight," said Coach Hiller on his team's performance. "Shaniyah was dominant in the circle and remained composed when things were not going our way.  She needed this win tonight.  The team needed this win tonight.  I am proud of all of our girls.  They did a great job banding together tonight when we needed it most."  

 

 

The Peach County Lady Trojans' next game is a home game against Westover on Tuesday at 5:30, followed by a JV vs. MS scrimmage.
