Peach Softball defeats Westover 17-0 to start 2-0 in Region 1-AAA

Shaniyah Gibson drove in five runs on two hits to lead the Peach County Lady Trojans past Westover 17-0 on Thursday. Gibson singled twice in the first inning, scoring three runs, and scoring two the second time.

The Lady Trojans scored 17 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Kaylyn Hornaday singled, scoring two runs; Akira Everett singled, scoring one run; Saniya Martin drew a walk, scoring one run; an error scored one run; Gibson singled, scoring two runs; Hornaday drew a walk, scoring one run; Everett drew a walk, scoring one run, Martin drew a walk, scoring one run, Ta'Mori Hollingshed singled, scoring two runs, Taleyah Marable singled, scoring one run, and Gibson singled, scoring three runs.

Gibson earned the win for the Peach County Lady Trojans. The starter surrendered zero hits and runs over one inning, striking out three and walking none. Mikiyah Lee took the loss for Westover. The hurler went three innings, allowing 17 runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking 14. Alyssa Crozier and Gracie Martin each threw scoreless innings for Peach County in relief.

Martin paced the Lady Trojans with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 14 walks for the game. Martin stole three bases. Peach County ran wild on the base paths, tallying eight stolen bases for the game.

 

Peach County plays at home on Tuesday against Monroe in their next game.
