Lady Trojans improve to 2-0 with 13-1 win at Howard
The bottom of the lineup helped the Peach County Lady Trojans capture a 13-1 victory over the Howard Huskies on Wednesday. Saniya Martin, Avery Yaughn, and Taleyah Marable combined for four of the team's seven hits in the victory. They scored five runs and drove in two.
The Lady Trojans jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Alyssa Crozier grounded out, scoring one run; an error scored one run; Martin singled, scoring two runs; and Yaughn grounded out, scoring one run.
Peach County added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Crozier singled, Alyssa Smith walked, and the Lady Trojans scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
They added one run in the third when Gracie Martin singled.
Crozier earned the win for the Peach County Lady Trojans. She allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Abby Davis took the loss for Howard Varsity Huskies. The right-handed pitcher went five innings, allowing 13 runs (eight earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking five.
Martin, Martin, and Marable each collected two hits for the Peach County Lady Trojans. Crozier and Martin each drove in two runs. Kaylyn Hornaday led the Lady Trojans with two walks. Saniya Martin stole five bases. The Lady Trojans accumulated nine stolen bases for the game. The Lady Trojans were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
The Lady Trojans welcome Northside and Howard on Saturday for their first Diamond Day of the season. Peach County plays Northside at 12:00, followed by Northside vs Howard at 3:00, and ending with Peach County vs Howard at 6:00.
