Peach Softball opens the Savannah Christian Diamond Day with win over Islands High School

Shaniyah Gibson drove in five runs on three hits to lead the Peach County Lady Trojans past Islands Sharks 17-2 on Saturday. Gibson hit a home run to left field in the first, scoring two, doubled in the second, scoring two, and tripled in the third, scoring one.

The Lady Trojans were the first to get on the board in the first when Gibson homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Peach County scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the second inning. Taleyah Marable grounded out, scoring one run, Gibson doubled, scoring two runs, Kaylyn Hornaday doubled, scoring one run, Alyssa Crozier doubled, scoring one run, and Saniya Martin singled, scoring two runs.

The Lady Trojans scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Gibson tripled, scoring one run, Hornaday doubled, scoring one run, Crozier singled, scoring one run, and Akira Everett doubled, scoring two runs.

Gracie Martin earned the win for the Peach County Lady Trojans. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Chloe Payne took the loss for Islands. The pitcher went two innings, surrendering nine runs on 10 hits, striking out one and walking none.

Peach County Lady Trojans piled up 14 hits in the game. Hornaday and Gibson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Peach County while hitting back-to-back. Crozier, Martin, and Martin each collected multiple hits for the Lady Trojans. Peach County Lady Trojans had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.
