Peach Softball opens Region 1-AAA with 20-0 victory over Dougherty
The Peach County Lady Trojans scored 12 runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Dougherty 20-0 on Tuesday. Saniya Martin drew a walk, scoring one run; a steal of home scored one run; Shaniyah Gibson drew a walk, scoring one run; Kaylyn Hornaday doubled, scoring one run; Alyssa Crozier grounded out, scoring one run; Sara-Reese Owens drew a walk, scoring one run, Kassidy Robinson singled, scoring three runs, and Genna Johnson singled, scoring one run.
The Lady Trojans jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Gibson drew a walk, scoring one run, Hornaday drew a walk, scoring one run, Alyssa Smith doubled, scoring one run, Ta'Mori Hollingshed drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Gracie Martin doubled, scoring two runs.
Crozier earned the win for Peach County Lady Trojans. The pitcher gave up zero hits and runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking one. Jalexi Thomas took the loss for Dougherty.
Smith went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Peach County Lady Trojans in hits. Martin, Robinson, and Taleyah Marable each drove in two runs for Peach County Lady Trojans. Peach County had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 14 walks for the game. Gracie Martin, Saniya Martin, Gibson, and Laylah Foster led the team with two walks each. Martin and Marable each stole multiple bases for the Peach County Lady Trojans. The Lady Trojans stole nine bases in the game. Peach County commit a single error in the field.
The Peach County Lady Trojans will travel to Westover for their next game on Thursday in Albany, GA at Gordon Park at 5:30.
