Howard tops Peach tonight in Volleyball
It was a long evening tonight in Macon, and unfortunately, Peach Volleyball had to deal with the injury bug and a red-hot Howard team that eased past the Lady Trojans 3-1 to win for the seventh time in eight tries.
Peach secured game one 25-17. Howard came back and beat the Lady Trojans 25-23, 25-14, and 25-16, which dropped Peach County to 3-7 on the season.
Throughout the match, the Lady Trojans battled along with Alexia Heyward, Monserrat Bravo, Kelly Blackmon, and Uzzhia Rumph, all serving at better than 94 percent. Demechia Walker had four Kills and a pair of Blocks. Heyward, Walker, and Rumph accounted for 11 Aces between them, while Walker had four to pace the attack.
The Lady Trojans had to play without the services of two starters for most of the last three games, and the subs gamely battled the Huskies the entire way.
Peach will conclude their week tomorrow at Lamar County, participating in a Tri-Match with Crawford County and Lamar County. Peach and Lamar will start at 5:00 pm and Crawford and the Lady Trojans will tangle at 6:00 pm. Both the JV and V will play at the same time in Barnesville on Thursday.
Howard's JV squad won their match with Peach, 2-0 (25-18 and 25-15). The Huskies remain undefeated with the win. Peach's JV dropped to 1-4 on the season.
