Peach County Football - 2022 Region 2-AAA Champions
Peach County High School Football won its 20th Region Championship Friday night with a dominant performance at Jackson High School. The Trojans defeated Jackson 49-14 behind a solid team effort led by a balanced offensive attack, solid special teams, and opportunistic defense.
Offensive Player of the Week, Skielar Mann, had two receptions for 48 yards and a TD. Isaiah Mitchell caught two passes for 76 yards and a score. Caleb Hampton, Christian Martin, and Chris McMillian each had a reception. Quarterback Colter Ginn was 7/13 for 189 yards and 2 TDs.
The rushing attack was led by Chris McMillian, who carried 11 times for 108 yards and 2 TDs. Robert Jones added 81 yards on ten carries and a score.
On his team's performance Friday night, Head Coach Chad Campbell said, "I thought our kids came out to start the game with a great mindset. Our goal was to come out fast, get an early lead, and take away home-field advantage from their fans. We were again very balanced, offensively running and throwing for 200 yards with no turnovers. We gave up a couple of explosive runs, but other than those runs, our defense played pretty well. Special teams play was good, and we scored on a pick-six defensively. It was the Trojans' 20th region championship. Kudos go out to the assistant coaches and kids for their performance."
This week's Players of the Week are:
Offense - Skielar Mann
Defense - Armard Davis
Special Teams - Jayden Parker
Scout Offense - Chris Scott
Scout Defense - Tywon Owns
McDonald's Player of the Week - Isaiah Mitchell
The GHSA AAA State Playoffs begin on Saturday, November 12, for the Trojans. They will host Crisp County High School at 8:00. The full bracket can be found HERE.
