Off to a great start in Region 2-AAA
Peach County got off to the right start in Region 2-AAA competition on Friday night against rival Mary Persons. The Trojans capitalized on a fumbled kickoff by Mary Persons to start the game and found the endzone a few plays later on one of Colter Ginn's five touchdown passes of the night.
Ginn was 14/17 for 186 yards and 5 TDs, earning this week's McDonald's Player of the Week award.
"Offensively, our guys played balanced football and played smart without turning the ball over and made some big plays," said Coach Chad Campbell on his team's performance. There were several notable contributors.
The Trojans ran for 183 yards on 30 carries, led by senior Chris McMillian, who had 146 yards on 21 carries, earning him the Peach County Offensive Player of the Week. Robert Jones had nine carries for 37 yards.
Through the air, Skielar Mann grabbed six receptions for 55 yards and two TDs. Christian Martin pulled down three for 40 yards and one TD. Caleb Hampton had three receptions for 39 yards and one TD. Dylan Johnson caught two passes for 45 yards and one TD.
"It was a great team win in our first region game of 2022. Our special teams did a great job all night, but we need to play smarter and more physical defense to accomplish our goals," Campbell said.
Other Peach County Players of the Week include Brandon Respress (Defense), Colter Ginn (Special Teams), A'shon Montford (Scout Offense), and Tywon Owens (Scout Defense).
Up Next: The Trojans are back at home on Friday, October 21, against Upson-Lee (4-4, 2-0). The Knights lost their first four games of the season but have quickly turned things around and won their next four, including two Region 2-AAA wins over Pike County (45-29) and Jackson (42-21).
