eSports Week 5 Update

eSports Week 5 Update

It was a great week for PCHS eSports!

On Tuesday, our Splatoon 3 team, "Sizzlin' & Rizzlin'," achieved a 3-0 victory against Toombs County High School's "Deep Fried Calamari With A Side Of Marinara." This win moves them to #6 in the state. They will face the #5 ranked Northside HS (WR). Northside has a match record of 4-1 and a game record of 12-4. The top 16 teams in the state will advance to the playoffs in April for this game title.

Both of our Super Smash Brothers teams also saw victories this week to keep their playoff hopes alive. Our A team defeated Dougherty Comprehensive High School by a match score of 2-0, with Jordan Woods and Christian Cutrell each defeating their opponents 2-0. Jordan Woods secured a 3-stock victory in one of his games. The A team is now ranked #40 in the A-4A division. Our B team defeated Duluth High School by a match score of 2-0. Tyler Williams and Jaquavion Watkins also defeated their opponents 2-0. The B team is now ranked #48 in the A-4A division. The cutoff for a playoff berth is a rank of 32 or higher.

Trevor Emmert, aka ChrisPBacon, had two Madden matches against Benedictine Military School and Early County High School this week. ChrisPBacon easily defeated both of his opponents and has now moved to #3 in the state. He is one of only three undefeated teams in the state in Madden (Creekside High School and Hebron Christian Academy).

William Hudson lost his Madden match against Grovetown High School. He is ranked #65 in the state. Brian Hill won his NBA2K match by opponent forfeit. He is ranked #16 in the state. Our MarioKart match was rescheduled to next week due to scheduling conflicts. They sit at the rank of #28 in the state.

Jordan Woods was nominated as the PCHS Player of the Week for his strong performance in Splatoon 3 and a 3-stock victory in Super Smash Brothers. He is a junior at PCHS.

State playoffs for eSports begin on April 12th. The final four and finals will occur in person at the University of West Georgia on April 29th. Let's continue supporting our teams as they work toward earning another championship for PCHS.
