eSports POTW and Regular Season Recap

eSports POTW and Regular Season Recap

This week's Player of the Week for PCHS eSports goes to Trevor Emmert for finishing out the season undefeated in his league. He shut out his opponent (A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School of Augusta, GA) in both games today, winning game 1 with a score of 38-0 and game 2 with a score of 24-0. Trevor is the outright #1 player in the state and is now in the running for the league championship. Winners of the league championship gain entry to the national tournament held in May 2024. In the spring, Trevor will work towards earning a 2nd state championship title in Madden and is already being scouted by various colleges around the state. Congrats, Trevor, on your accomplishments.

The regular season for PCHS Fall 2023 eSports is officially in the books. We have five teams confirmed for a spot in the playoffs. Trevor Emmert, aka ChrisPBacon, is the outright #1 player in the state of Georgia in Madden 24. He went undefeated and finished the season 8-0. If he wins the non-GHSA league tournament this fall, he will gain entry into the national tournament held in May 2024. In the spring, he will compete again in Madden to try to earn a 2nd state championship title for PCHS.

Our Super Smash Brothers teams, "Banana Bandits" and "Team Three Star," each secured playoff bids. Banana Bandits finished the season 7-1 and are currently the #4 team in the A-4A division. Team Three Star finished 6-2 and secured the #15 spot in the A-4A division. Participants on the Smash teams include Jordan Woods, Khalil Watson, Trentavious Brown, Joshua Westbrook, Zierre Leggette, Jacoby Chester, Tyler Williams, and Ivie Shaw.

Our MarioKart A team finished 5-3 and is currently 24th in Georgia. The MarioKart B team finished 4-4 and is ranked 44th in the state. Our Splatoon 3 team, aka "Shivering Sharks," finished #5 in their league with a record of 6-2 before they begin their playoff run. Participants in Splatoon 3 include Christian Rodriguez, Samuel Brown, Savon Williams, and Kanik Surles.

Our two Rocket League teams finished at #47 and #63 in the state. Participants in Rocket League include Benjamine Sharpe, Zahir Chanchavac, Jeremi Jackson, Carmelo Jones, Jayden Jones, Jordan Jones, and Daisy Boyt. Ethan Howard finished the season 3-5 in Madden.

Overall, we had five out of eight teams secure playoff bids in their respective leagues. Playoffs begin the week following Thanksgiving break.
