Peach Cross Country Advances to the GHSA State Meet
It was a big day for Peach County Cross Country, as they competed so well in the Region 2-AAA Cross Country Meet at Jackson High School. Both teams advanced to compete in the GHSA-AAA State Meet in Carrollton, GA on Saturday, November 4. The Girls finished in 3rd Place, and the Boys finished in 4th Place. The top five finishers' times are averaged to get the team score. The Boys averaged 00:19:59:06 and the Girls averaged 00:28:11:34.
Coach Russell Coleman and his assistant Butch Beatty have done a fantastic job building this program, which continues to improve each week.
"Micah New and Joey Decker both ran sub 19 minutes. We averaged under 20 minutes for the top 5 boys for the first time ever. Citlali Sanchez also ran her personal best to lead the girls," said Coach Coleman of his teams' performances. "Joey and Micah are both coming back next season. They could both contend for the Region Championship next year. The girls are super young with an all-star eighth grader on the way. It should be a good year next year."
