Boys Basketball gets its first W of the season in Tallahassee

Capital City Classic

Results:

L vs Florida State University High School 68-27

W vs Crossroads Academy 51-46

The Trojans picked up their first win of the season behind a monster performance from Cam Cherry. Cherry finished the game with 30 points in a win over Crossroads 51-46.

"Cam missed 11 foul shots in the game, so we will have to go back and watch the film to see exactly what's happening with his process on the free throw line. We know he's a better free throw shooter than what he's displayed, and he knows it as well. I'm sure he'll figure it out and show improvement," said Coach Cherry.

"Overall, this was a great team performance. Jamari Wright, Caleb Welch, and Daylen Oates impacted the game defensively and made timely baskets to keep us afloat. Due to an injury to Daylen Oates, Brisco Freeman stepped up and gave us a great spark off the bench."

On the trip to Tallahassee, Coach Cherry summed it up with one word, "EXPOSURE. This was a great experience for us as a team and individually as players. We were allowed to tour Florida State University Men's Basketball team facilities on our final day in Tallahassee. I know, without a doubt, our players were inspired and motivated.  We saw it manifest on the court immediately vs Crossroads Academy. We believe our program took multiple steps forward on this trip.  The chemistry and brotherhood are strengthening, which will translate to having more trust among each other on the court."
